Entrance Examination
Admission to the PGDTM
programme is made on the basis of overall performance in an aptitude
test held in the second week of May, Group discussion, and personal
interview. The test is conducted at Gwalior, Bhubaneshwar, New Delhi,
Chennai, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Patna, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaipur.
IITTM accepts CAT scores
as well.
Pattern of examination
The written test consists
of sections on English ability, Quantitative ability, Reasoning and
Awareness of national and global issues. There are a total 200 questions
to be answered in 150 minutes. Wrong answers carry negative marks.

carrying forward their family business.
IITTM also offers short-duration

the examination?
English: To prepare
for the vocabulary and English Usage section, you must increase your
knowledge of the English language. Try to focus on the general meaning
and structure of the sentence. Prepare from books by Thomas and Martinet,
Neffield, Wren and Martin. You could also study from ‘Objective English’
by Prasad, and ‘English is Easy’ by Chetan Anand. Do some exercises
of usage and comprehension from SAT by Barron.
QA and Reasoning: For
Mathematics, you could prepare from books by Krishna, R.D. Sharma and
objective Mathematics by Tata McGraw Hill publishers. You can brush
up your reasoning skills from Verbal and Non verbal Reasoning by R.S.
Agarwal and books by Edgar Thorpe.
General Knowledge:
Questions on General knowledge test your current awareness of situations
happening in India and around the world. Read the newspapers daily and
maintain a scrap book of major events. You could also brush up your
General Knowledge from current affairs magazines, Manorama or CSR yearbook.

Development Management (PGDRDM) with an aim to create a committed and
competent cadre of Rural Development professionals in the country
The programme seeks
to impart management techniques that will enhance the understanding
of the paradigm and practice of rural development
Eligibility: Graduation
in any discipline from a recognized university, students who are in
the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation
before 1st August, 2011 may also apply

for the sponsored Indian in-service and international in-service candidates.
Indian in-service candidates should possess at least two years of work
experience in rural development and allied sectors, and are required

Test (XAT) and (2) apply online to XLRI for the FPM.
Instead of taking the
XAT, FPM candidates can also submit GMAT/ GRE/ GATE/ UGC JRF (research)
results taken during the year January 2009 and December 2010. Those
who have done their PGP from XLRI, any IIM, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi or
XIM Bhubaneswar, with a CQPI of at least 6.00/8.00 or equivalent will
also be exempted from appearing in the XAT. Those who wish not to take

manpower readily available for recruitment of the Indian Power Sector.

ABOUT THE COURSE :
The course is of one year duration (2 Semesters) and covers various
aspects of Operation & Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants. Formal
coaching shall be held at Regional Institute of NPTI, located at Badarpur,
New Delhi. On-job training is conducted at the nearby Power Stations.
The course authorises the Diploma Holders to operate or undertake maintenance
of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above
together with the associated substation.
ELIGIBILITY : Three
years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical/ control & Instrumentation
or equivalent. Graduate engineers are not eligible. (Engineering or
equivalent from a recognized technical board of the state with minimum
of 60% marks with I class/) Grade).
